The Moon is a big rocky ball that circles around the Earth, covered with a blanket of dusty soil called regolith. When space rocks zoom into the Moon really fast, they make big dents called craters and cool splashy patterns called ejecta. Because the Moon has no air to slow the rocks down, these crashes leave amazing marks that help us learn all about where and how the rocks hit!
